Where have all the adult books gone?

I was looking over my reading list for last year (see sidebar) and realized one thing. Lots of YA, but where are the adult books? Sure, February, March and April are full of them because I was in school, but after that...they sort of disappeared. Oops.

So, I started off this year by reading an adult novel--The Reader by Bernhard Schlink. It's an Oprah Book Club pick and though it's short, it's powerful. I think Barrie said she didn't like it, but I thought it told a great story.

Over the holiday break, I read dozens of small MG novels--too many to list on the blogger sidebar. Has anyone read anything from the Animal Ark series from Scholastic? Very cute and a great way to show kids how to care and love animals. I also reread several horsey MG novels that I loved when I was a kid (Pony Pals and Pony Tails) and found them still lovable and inspiring to horsey authors.

What are you reading now? I'm on the lookout for my next adult read. Suggestions?

I'm reading mostly YA too, but I do have from the library The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. I can't believe I haven't read it yet. Many people at work keep telling me it's one of their favorites that he's written.

I'll add that to my list. I think I've only read one Sparks. Maybe. Not even sure actually if I did. But I saw A Walk to Remember. Does that count? :)

Oh lots of good ones out there to read! I just finished Water for Elephants which was fantastic. It's about the circus and there's a lot of animal info. I think you'd enjoy it!

Currently reading Silent in the Grave which is a romance/mystery and I'm thoroughly enjoying the story!

My next read will likely be Snowflower and the Secret Fan which came highly recommended.

Oooh, Steph's back! :) I have WFE in my possession and really should read it. I love Sara's other stuff, so I'll try that one. I haven't heard of the other two, so I'll add them as well. Good ideas!

Oh my goodness, Jessica. That is so funny. That's quite possibly the only time I've said online that I didn't like a book. And you picked up on it. :)

So, to make up for this, here are some adult books I've really, really enjoyed:
The Pursuit of Alice Thrift by Elinor Lipman
A Wedding in December by Anita Shreve
Drink the Sky by Lesley Krueger
Fall On Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald

Cheers!

LOL, Barrie. I think it's my annoying nature when someone says they don't like something to try it myself and see. ;) And now I have four new books to add to my TBR pile.

Jessica, I seriously LOVED these books. So, you have to let me know what you think. I want to see if our tastes are even close.

I'm off to the movies tonight--Juno. Can't wait!

Counting down to Saddlehill Academy!

Hii, friends! I'm so very thrilled to remind everyone that NEXT MONTH (!!!) is the release of my first novel in eight years! Ahhhhh!!...
