Movies to Books

For some reason, I couldn't get the daemon to work in a regular post, so I put him up there for a couple of days. Anyone else take the test? What's your daemon? It was so much fun to see what mine was. :)

Lately, I've been scanning the papers to see what books to movies are in the works. Atonement (open now) seems to have Oscar buzz already for its actors, so I'm going to read the novel. The Reader by Bernard Schlink is due out in 2008 (with Nicole Kidman) and I've heard of it before, but never read it.

So, over the holidays, I'm trying to read two books at once. While I read YA or MG, I'm trying to get through the adult novels that have been sitting in my TBR pile forever.

Remember, check back tomorrow for an announcement! :) And coming later this week, someone asked me if I ever blogged about where I was and what I was doing when I got "the call" that my manuscript had an offer. I'll share that, too.

There seems to be alot of movies coming out lately that are based on books. It seems like every preview I see lately says, "based on the book by..."

I so want to see Atonement, but it's not at a theater near here. Boo. Maybe I'll have to read the book.

I noticed that trend, too.

Atonement looks so good! USA Today only gave it 2 1/2 stars, but I've heard better reviews. Boo about it not being close to you. I think it's here, but I'm not sure. I'm just starting the book, so I'll let you know if it's good.

BTW, what did you think of Big Boned?

I never trust reviews. When I was younger my grandmother used to take me to the movies pretty much every weekend. Our decision was based on the "lowest" rated movies. We knew we'd love those.

Yes, definitely let me know if you like Atonement.

I LOVED Big Boned. But I love that series. It's one of my favorite ones of Cabot's (about tied with The Mediator for me). The ending seemed a bit abrupt, but I hear she's going to be doing more in the series now, so that's good.

Yeah, reviews really don't do it for me anymore. I always seem to love movies that critics hate--those cheesy ones. :) And you know, doesn't it seem that movies that are heaped with Oscar buzz don't do much at the box office? Commerical films really seem to pound art films, sad but true.

I've never read any in the Big Boned series, so I definitely will. Your reviews, I trust. :)

I didn't realize The Reader was being made into a movie. Yikes. One of the few books I read lately that I didn't like. Let me know what you think if you read it.

Counting down to Saddlehill Academy!

Hii, friends! I'm so very thrilled to remind everyone that NEXT MONTH (!!!) is the release of my first novel in eight years! Ahhhhh!!...
